Brings together those who have been harmed with those who have caused harm. It gives those who have been harmed the opportunity to express their feelings in a safe environment, to obtain answers to questions and where appropriate to receive an apology or some form of reparation.
The person who has caused harm has the opportunity to take responsibility for their actions, to hear and understand how their behaviour has affected others and enables them to explore ways of making amends.
Restorative practice holds the harmer to account for what they have done, both personally and directly. The process is used within the criminal justice system and within the wider community to address multi party disputes, workplace issues and for anti social and offending behaviour.
